Build Guide

📋

Overview

Corruption Cultist is a DoT and burst caster with insane BG pressure, strong ST burst, good AoE, with crazy survivability

The basic playstyle is simple: DoT everything with Darkwither, spam Obliteration Beam and Gaze of C’Thun on CD, then delete priority targets with Psychic Suppression.

Because you have DoTs ticking on half the enemy team at the same time, this build almost always tops the dmg meter. It is especially broken in low-lvl BGs since you get strong defensives, healing, and AoE CC very early.

The talents shown in the build are the important core talents. The leftover points do not matter that much for leveling PvP, so you can move them around depending on what you prefer.

⚔️

Rotation

Your normal teamfight rotation in bg is:

Apply Darkwither to every enemy you see

Spam Obliteration Beam on CD

Use Gaze of C’Thun on CD

Drop your tentacle near enemy players

Use Psychic Suppression on a dotted target for huge burst

Keep tab-targeting and refreshing DoTs

If there are 3 or more enemies close together, use Eldrich Devastation

Spam sanity tap to get mana if needed or to reduce insanity.

NOTE (Update 2026/07/16) - new spell Eldrich Shock, use this on cd to reduce sanity

Do not tunnel one player too hard unless they are about to die. Your biggest strength is spreading pressure across the entire enemy team. Get your DoTs rolling first, then use your burst.

For your main ST burst:

Darkwither → Tentacle → Obliteration Beam → Gaze of C’Thun → Psychic Suppression

Psychic Suppression is OP when the target is already dotted and your tentacle is down. It can take around 80% of someone’s HP and sometimes just kill them. Do not waste it on a target with no setup unless your team is near.

In a 1v1, you want to kite while your DoTs and tentacle do the work.

Apply Darkwither

Slow them with Grasp of Zek’voz - super op slow

Drop your tentacle

Spam Obliteration Beam and Gaze of C’Thun on CD

Keep moving and kite them

Use Psychic Suppression once everything is set up

If you get low, fear them and heal with Eldritch Mending

Against melee, do not just stand still. Slow, fear, kite, shield, and heal while your DoTs keep ticking.

Wrath of the Black Empire can also be worth casting in a 1v1 when the enemy is feared, heavily slowed, or unable to interrupt you. The normal cast time is very long, so do not try to hardcast it while someone is hitting you.

DEFENSIVES:

Spam Void Shield on CD!

Do not wait until you are almost dead. Keeping it active constantly makes you much harder to kill and stops a lot of random chip dmg.

Corrupt Mind is an insanely strong AoE fear. It can fear up to three players for eight seconds, which is completely broken in BGs.

An eight-second AoE fear can win an entire fight by itself.

Abyssal Ward is one of your big emergency defensives.

It has a long CD, so use it when you are getting focused or expect a large burst combo. Do not waste it on random low dmg.

Embrace the Void is another strong panic button with a long CD.

The problem is that it sometimes bugs, and you can still die through it. Do not rely on it.

Hallucination is best used to break out of slows, confuse enemy players and to get enemy pets or minions off you.

It is especially good when classes with pets or summoned minions are sitting on you, since it makes them drop target.

Eldritch Mending gives you really strong sustain.

If you get low, fear the enemy and heal. With correct use of Void Shield, fear, emergency defensives, and Eldritch Mending, you are basically unkillable unless several enemies jump you at once.

Stats

Spell Power > Intellect > Haste > Stamina

At lower levels mana is a big issues so you might want prioritize int over spellpower.

📈

Leveling

When leveling try to rush all your darkwither talents then psychic suppression and glimpse of madness.

At lvl 18,28,38 and so on go to the capital PvP vendors to get honor gear.

To level fast in bg try to stay close to teamfights and dot everything. You can easily kill efc with suppression and slow.

💡

Tips

You generally want to hit 60 Insanity because this gives you the 10% dmg increase.

This is easy to maintain since Darkwither, Obliteration Beam, and Gaze of C’Thun generate a lot of Insanity.

The important part is not accidentally going all the way to 100 Insanity.

Obliteration Beam is aoe so try to hit as many people as you can with it.

Below around lvl 40, you will probably have mana issues. This is where Sanity Tap becomes really useful.

Sanity Tap fixes both your mana problems and your Insanity management, so use it often.

Wrath of the Black Empire also lowers Insanity, but the cast time is normally way too long to use in the middle of a fight.

At 100 Insanity. When you hit 100, Wrath of the Black Empire cd is reduces a lot because you gain a lot of haste when at 100 insanity, even though this haste increase is not explained in-game or online from what I can tell.

So if you accidentally hit 100 Insanity, start spamming Wrath of the Black Empire if you are safe, otherwise pop defensive cd and run away untill it resets.

When you unlock presence of yog, use that instead of presence of c'thun, it does quite a lot of dmg and is a pain against casters, and it works super well when you dot the entire enemy team. (Use servant of C'thun talent if you use c'thun)
