What is Conquest of Azeroth?

A plain-English introduction to Conquest of Azeroth — the 21-class custom game mode on Project Ascension — and how it differs from retail World of Warcraft.
Conquest of Azeroth (CoA) is a game mode on Project Ascension, a private World of Warcraft server. It sets aside WoW's familiar classes and replaces them with 21 brand-new custom classes, each built from the ground up with its own fantasy, resource system, talent trees, and abilities.
A completely new class roster
Where retail WoW gives you a handful of classes, CoA gives you 21 — each with three or four specializations, for well over sixty distinct ways to play. A Cultist channels the Old Gods and builds Insanity; a Stormbringer generates Static to unleash Supercharged lightning; a Tinker loads custom rounds into a gun and deploys turrets. No two classes share a resource or a rotation.
Classes, roles, and specs
Every class can fill one or more of the classic group roles — tank, healer, or damage — and you lock into a primary specialization at level 10. Some classes are pure damage dealers, such as the Necromancer and Pyromancer. Others are remarkably versatile: the Cultist and Sun Cleric can each tank, heal, or deal damage depending on the specialization you pick.
Because each class plays so differently, choosing one is a real decision. The class pages on this site break down every specialization, its role, resource system, and playstyle so you can compare before you commit.
